Supreme Brahman

Discovering Immortal Love

The Supreme Brahman is the ultimate reality—the eternal living truth known as sat-chit-ananda (existence-consciousness-bliss) also known as God, Self, Sunyata, Logos, Presence, Divine Love, or even the Quantum Reality or the Quantum Field. Regardless of the label used in an attempt to describe the indescribable, the Supreme Brahman is the invisible pervasive intelligent presence of the entire universe. The mind emerges from this vast still presence as the primal ‘I’ thought, which is the root or knot of consciousness known as the granthi that binds the Supreme Brahman (Self), mind, and soul (jiva) with the inert matter of your body. This invisible energy, encapsulated by your body, is the electromagnetic nature of your soul (jiva)—a unique frequency of light within you that extends far beyond the limited construct of your physical form. This ego knot infused with the immense energy of the unseen makes you think and feel like you are your body-mind-ego experience. Moksha is the moment this primordial knot is cut all the way through—the permanent physical realization of the Supreme Brahman that is unmoving, but also moves as the source energy (shakti) of creation. This paradox of the moving stillness is one of the great mysteries of the unending presence of the Self. But what unlocks this ancient mystery and how does this understanding help you permanently end all forms of suffering?

Yoga Sutras

The Yoga of Wisdom

The ancient teaching of Ashtanga Yoga documented in the Yoga Sutras is revered as the yoga of wisdom that leads you to the eternal salvation known as moksha—unending happiness. According to the ancient sutras of Ashtanga Yoga the purpose of yoga is nirodha—the process of ending the vritti, which are endless thought-waves or streams of consciousness flowing through your mind and body that are both conscious and unconscious. Ramana referenced this ancient text when he said, “Ancient and timeless sense attachments in the shape of vasanas may rise countless like waves of the sea, which will all be destroyed as dhyāna progresses.” Dhyāna means meditation as the deep absorption in the Self—a vast unseen presence. It is an essential aspect of vichara or self-inquiry, but does this yoga negate the other seven spokes of this ancient dharma wheel? What if the other seven spokes are necessary for the stillness of dhyāna to manifest in your experience?

Gita

The Song of God
by Kosi

The word Gita means song or hymn. The ancient teachings of India are composed of ancient songs (mantras) that sing the song of God—the secret yogic wisdom that reveals the way of enlightenment or the path of moksha—the end of eons of suffering. The songs contained in ancient scripture are actually a secret language infused with a potent energy that unveils the gateway of eternal freedom within you. It is a potent power that opens your heart to the great mystery of eternal salvation. The Ramana Gita is the song of Arunachala Siva—the form and formlessness of the silent song of Ramana—that which resides in the heart of all beings. It is an ocean of wisdom—a vast indescribable purifying energy that reveals the essential yoga that removes conscious and unconscious tendencies that hide your true nature. Few would argue that the Ramana Gita represents the quintessential teaching, energy, and presence of Sri Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi, but what secret wisdom does it contain? Mantras

The Secret Alchemy of God
by Kosi

Mantras are the ancient song of God—the Sanskrit hymns contained in ancient Vedic scripture, which are composed of sounds heard by ancient sages and rishis in the most pristine silence. Every mantra contains potent seed letters—a frequency of sound, electromagnetic energy, and vibratory silence with the power to re-wire the synapses in your brain. The simplest and most basic mantra is the primordial sound OM. It contains the seed letters a-u-m, which precisely correlate to the primary states of consciousness—the waking, dream, and deep sleep states. The sound of a-u-m is potent vibratory silence that naturally directs your attention to the omniscience deep within your heart—bliss beyond all ideas of bliss—the stateless state of consciousness known as Turiya. This sound has been embraced for centuries as the gateway to the eternal, but what exactly is this ancient alchemy? Are mantras necessary for enlightenment—liberation from eons of suffering? Or enlightenment instant and effortless? What is the process of enlightenment?

Sadhana

The Razors Edge
By Kosi

Papaji insisted that liberation was effortless. He famously proclaimed, “No teacher, no student, no teaching—this is the teaching!” The effortless quality of his teaching spread around the world like wild fire. It was popular to think you could be enlightened in a finger snap—no effort, no practice, no time—instant enlightenment. His perspective was seductive.  It lured many into the delusion of the enlightened ego—the great misconception that a single glimpse into your true nature equates to liberation—an instant ascent into the coveted state of nirvana, turiya, and beyond—Śūnyatā.  But is this the real nature of enlightenment? What if Papaji was just flat wrong?!”

Enigma

The Great Secret of Ramana
by Kosi

The depth of Ramana Maharshi’s realization was so complete he totally transcended his physical form. As a result, he was the radiant transmission of God—a visceral tangible presence that everyone felt when sitting in his presence. Even though he left his body in April of 1950, the power of his presence can still be felt at his ashram in Tiruvannamalai India. The depth of Ramana Maharshi’s realization leaves a huge gulf between the power of his presence and just about every single western teacher who claims him as their guru. This includes HWL Poonja, better known as Papaji, the well-known guru who lived and taught in Lucknow India. What is the reason for this difference? Are their varying degrees of realization? Or is Ramana simply an enigma?

Convergence

The Great Ocean of Now
by Kosi

The thick mental fog of the genetic mind and ego can generate a sense of foreboding deeply rooted in the terror experienced when you were born into this world. It is a deep feeling that you can’t quite put your finger on that generates the sense that something is hopelessly wrong with you or a deep feeling of self-hatred. It is often experienced as a sickening feeling that coincides with the deep belief that you are hopelessly flawed, unlovable, unwanted, alone, and abandoned. This is the original sin—the exile from the paradise of Eden—the heartbreaking loss of the bliss of pure being you experienced in the womb. The death of this insidious feeling is a rebirth into the bliss of your being—the dramatic return to the source or pure consciousness. This sounds wonderful, but exactly how do you break free of the torture of self-hatred?

Love

The Ruthless Power of Bhakti Yoga
by Kosi

Love is a word that can evoke many different meanings. It is usually associated with the deep feeling of affection for someone else or the pleasure derived from something you really enjoy—like ice cream or your favorite object—your diamond ring. Love is also a word for a special relationship or sexual bond with someone else. It is a word that connotes two instead of one—it is predicated on you and other or you and something that you love. Love of God is devotion, but is devotion the same the same as the human emotion of love or something else? What is the real nature of Bhakti or love of God?

Judgment

The Genetics of Suffering

One of the great powers of your mind is to judge, to discern, and in the relative sense, use this powerful movement of your mind to make informed decisions based on your perspective about what you perceive to be right versus wrong. It is a natural power of your mind that enables you to navigate through the great illusion known as the world. Survival is simply not possible without this force of nature deeply engrained in your physical form. The mind is fundamentally wired for survival—it is genetic. The ego combined with the mind is the neurological and biological construct that enables you to survive. Ego is simply essential for survival. But is survival the nature of suffering? Does survival have anything to do with suffering? Is survival and the power of judgment a form of bondage?

Ruthless

The Path of Liberation
By Kosi

The path of liberation is ruthless. It demands a deep unwavering commitment to the vast invisible omniscience alive in your heart. This commitment represents the end of excuses.  It is the profound humbling of your mind—a deep surrender to the vast indescribable unseen omniscience of God—a ruthless truth-telling and complete relinquishment of whatever it is you think you want. The natural tendency of mind is to conjure up all kinds of reasons to ignore, or not even notice, the omniscience we collectively refer to as God. The mind tends to doubt this unseen…

Neo Advaita

The Most Honest Lie
By Kosi

HWL Poonja, better known as Papaji, instigated what has been recently coined the Neo Advaita Satsang movement. As the name suggests, neo means new—a new approach to Advaita Vedanta—the ancient non-dual teachings of the Vedas and Upanishads of India. Neo Advaita was Papaji’s “great experiment” to see if spreading satsang around the world with his students could alter the course of human history, which for centuries has been on the perilous trajectory of total extinction of the human race.  Satsang, Papaji believed, was the only logical solution for ending the destructive nature of the human mind and ego, which is the root cause of all war and conflict.
